Scientific Researches

Theses for Academic Degree

My Master degree thesis is "System Analysis on Cotton-Cotton Aphid-Natural Enemies System" and score is A. The thesis use the theory and method of complex function theory and control theory to analyse and develop cotton growth, growth laws for injured and non-injured cotton, pulse model for cotton aphid population influenced by precipitation, insecticide controlling model, dynamic model for solar radiation and evapotranspiration, dynamic models for cotton aphid and natural enemies, transfer function models for automatic control system of cotton-cotton aphid-natural enemies, stability analyses and sensitivity analyses for transfer function models, etc. Overcompensation of cotton injured by cotton aphid, non-stability of the system disturbed by different natural enemies, and the optimal control techniques were discovered and developed respectively. 7 papers excerpted from the thesis have been published, among which 1 paper was published on Proceedings of International Conference on Biomathematics and 3 papers won awards.
My Doctoral degree thesis is "Epidemic Simulation and Fungicide Control Decision System of Wheat Scab" and score is A. About 20 years' data were analysed. The main contents include continuous spatial distribution models and sampling formula for primary inoculum of wheat scab, the relationship between development and temperature of perithecium, ascospore, and ascus of wheat scab, simulation model for perithecium development dynamics, re-infection of pathogen in Guanzhong Irrigated Area, simulation model for epidemic dynamics of wheat scab, assessment models for yield loss caused by wheat scab, fungicide control models to wheat scab, system model for epidemic forecast an fungicide control of wheat scab, and cybernetic models used to optimally control the epidemic dynamics of wheat scab, ets. 6 papers excerpted from the thesis have been published.

Other Scientific Researches

Since 1989, excepting for teaching, I have published more than 70 scientific papers and 5 booklets , sponsored and participated in 7 research projects, and won more than 10 awards.
I have ever finished a monograph "Decision-making, Cybernetic Techniques and Computer Softwares" (to be published) in which more than 40 algorithms and softwares were included: multiobjective decisionmaking, stochastic decisionmaking, multiobjective optimization, single objective optimization, clustering analyses, cybernetic system and analyses, optimal control, etc.

Postdoctoral Research in Zhongshan University

My postdoctoral research is focused on the epizootiology and simulation models for nuclear polyhedrosis virus of Spodoptera litura(SINPV). Multi-dimensional models for calculate the infected number through horizontal transmission, which considered the impacts of velocity, size and population density of insects on infected population, and infected threshold model for insect pathogens were developed. Mixture infection models for multi-species, non-linear death-temperature relationships of infected insects, simulation model for cabbage-S.litura-SINPV, and other epizootic models were also developed. In addition, the REVAWEA evaluation algorithm and indices system for microbial control which includes 13 indices in economic, environmental, and social benefits were developed. 6 papers have been published.

Project and Postdoctoral Research in IRRI

In the IRRI, up till now I have developed 32 Windows softwares, 32 Internet softwares, 12 Qbasic programs and an expert system shell. Each Windows software is a standalone executable program, which can be executed on Windows 95 and advanced environments. All Internet softwares are grouped into a homepage which can be executed on Internet web browser. Qbasic programs are all command-line types. Expert system shell is developed with Prolog language and can be executed on Windows 95 environment.
Each of Windows package and Internet package contains about 60 algorithms and models involving in statistics, ecology, differential equation, control theory, operational research, etc., among which some of the algorithms and models were developed by us, some of the algorithms were from journals and books. Each software in packages is a Windows program which includes several interfaces. The interfaces for saving result and graph are also included. 5 software booklets have been published in IRRI.
